Below is a new version of India's national song, Vande Mataram (in English, "I bow to thee, Mother") interpreted by what must be a famous Indian band (?).
I find it terribly kitsch but I still like it...
It seems to me that it's a good example of what India is trying to turn into (probably not what it actually is. But then again, this is my point of view): a modern place, catching up with the rest of the world but still respecting and following some important and deep-rooted customs.
I'm not sure I get the point with the freshly-tattooed girl. Do you?
Oh by the way, if you want to be in tune with our unit's topic and get some vocab and inspiration on modern India, you might want to watch (again) Slumdog Millionaire. I did and I enjoyed it very much.
